The Haeckelbite is a vinyl sculpture developed for the UNESCO Meeting (Lisbon). I created this work with Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (Artforms of Nature) in mind. Haeckel was a 19th century scientist, philosopher and artist who coined many terms in biology, including phylum, phylogeny, ecology. The design of the Haeckelbite has also been used for a hot air baloon.
